Warranty Work Must Not Be A High Priority At Dealerships

By dustin michael at 11/04/08 12:54

My car has been having trouble so I took it to my Ford Dealership to get a diagnostic. When I called to schedule the diagnostic, I didn't have a problem getting a speedy appointment. They diagnosed what "might be" the problem. I paid my bill and left.

After going to the part store to get exactly what mechanic told me, I installed the new parts. Still didn't fix my problem. So I had to go back for a second. Just like before, no problem getting in. This time the mechanic said the catalytic converter was shot. So I ordered the new converter through them and set up an appointment.

Then I found out through a friend that I might still have a warranty on my emissions. I did some digging and sure enough my warranty was still good! So I call the dealer and tell them I have a warranty to get if fixed free of charge.

Now coincidently, they can't get me scheduled right away. I have to wait for a call back. Which its been a week, and still no call back. I think that just because they aren't making any money off of me they are putting other jobs in front of mine. Delaying and pushing my car back. It just really gets to me how these types of things work.

Whether its a recall replace, warranty replace, or just a customer paying out of pocket to get his car fixed, I think that all jobs should get treated equally and with the same priority!

Do you have any clue how a manufacturers warranty works?

The Ford dealer will be paid and paid handsomely for the warranty repair and parts. FORD will pay them.

They have no excuse to delay the service for the reason of money. In fact maybe they will get paid more!
