So the other day I encountered yet another fine example of customer service (or the sever lack thereof!) in Uruguay. I wanted to watch the NBA conference finals so I went looking for any one of the many bars with multiple big screen tvs to ask if they could play the game whilst I ate dinner with a friend.
I must have gone to about 10 restaurants and bars in Pocitos and even though these bars were all completely empty and we were among their only potential customers for the night EVERY bar said their staff wanted to watch a Uruguayan football game and turned us away!
Can you even imagine that ever happening in the US or in Europe? Ok, I can totally understand if there's only 1 tv and there's already a crowd of customers watching something, but these were bars with MULTIPLE tvs and NO customers but they still prioritised the employees in their overstaffed bar over their customers. Typical!
