I read in the newspaper today that an 8 year old boy DIED after accidentally shooting himself in the head while shooting an Uzi submachine gun at a gun fair in Massachusetts!

Come on people, am I the only one who thinks it is criminally insane to expect an 8 year old child to be able to control the kickback of a weapon like a submachine gun? I mean, if it was a weapon that was a single shot, at least if it flew up in the air, it would have been less of a danger to the person holding it or surrounding them.

The article stated that the child was under the supervision of a certified instructor at the time. Are they kidding me? Unless the guy was holding the weapon for the child, how could they possibly have expected this wouldn't happen?

Was this all a sales technique for the seller of the weapon to show that even a child could operate it? Oh my heavens!

I think it is simply common sense that every 8 yr old should be trained and capable of using an Uzi with skill and proficiency.

Had the boy been properly trained there would have been no accident here.

why do you think every 8 year old boy should be trained to shoot a submachine gun? At that age they shouldn't know what one was. He shouldn't have had a loaded gun in his hands period! Now, Barry White, if that was the case, there would have been no accident here!

Hopefully, that was just a smart aleck response, because I am sure everyone would agree that children handling submachine guns is insane.

so your a gun dealer at a gun show, right. you are there to promote your guns and ammo. you decide you want to show everybody that your gun i so easy to operate, that an 8 year old can do it.

you might as well have just brought in the Geico Direct spokesman and changed your slogan to, "so easy a caveman can do it"! at least the caveman might have been able to handle the recoil!

now come, on get serious! why would you want a young child to know how to shoot an automatic weapon! don't you think that there is enough of todays youth killing each other!

the "professional" that allowed this child to shoot that gun should get murder charges. idiot.
